Presidents Day

Today is Presidents Day - The day when we celebrate the presidents that have led our country. I find it kind of funny that we have an entire day dedicated to the presidents and yet there are a lot of Americans who can't name more than 5  to 10 of them or the fact that a lot of people don't know that our current president is the 44th president but he's actually the 43rd person to hold the presidency. That's because Grover Cleveland actually won the presidency twice.

Since a lot of schools usually have this day off as a federal holiday rather than being in session I thought perhaps this is the reason why we don't know much about our presidents. But then again I sometimes find America as a paradox. We often say that knowledge is power, and we are thrilled to have our freedom of religion and speech but a lot of folks don't seem to bother to learn it and further more don't seem to be interested in learning it.

Yet, you have countries like Egypt who are currently rioting over the injustices that their government has done and they would kill to know the information about their government that we currently know about ours. Isn't that strange? Although, I'll be honest, I don't know as much as I would like to about how the government works, and politics, and history and presidents. But I do like to learn and I do take the time to try.

Just thought I would throw that out there. Hope you all had a wonderful day and I wish you the best upcoming week!

Always ~ Allyson :)
