What do you mean its over?

2 years, 1 month By Allyson

This year has had a mind boggling effect on me, I think. I started it off with recovery from a C-section, a brand new baby boy, my daughter turning 5, going back to the doctor because of an infection in my incision, Riley starting Kindergarten, my father-in-law passing away, going to my 10 year high school reunion, realizing its been 10 years since my grandmother died, losing 30 pounds and counting, my son turning a year old and me throwing a party at my new house, and doing my first turkey for the most part on my own with my mom consultant on the side for Christmas. And I got all A's in my 3 classes this semester.

That's a lot of stuff in 12 months. Goals that I had this year were:

1. Lose weight. Not just because I wanted to look good for my high school reunion but also for health issues that I'd been having. And I accomplished this one! I lost 30 pounds. Though I had wanted it to be more. It was a good start at least.

2. Reconnect with friends and go to my reunion. I kept going back and forth on whether or not I was actually going to go. I was pretty disappointed to find out that most of the friends that I hung out with when I was in high school weren't going. But then I convinced Heather she should go. And she did! And I'm glad I went. I talked with a lot of folks that I hadn't talked to in a long time. And I've struck up some new conversations here and there with them since.

3. Try and get more business for my artwork website. Which although it isn't as much as I would have liked, I've actually done this. And I have a couple of steady reoccurring clients.  Here's my website: www.AllysonArtwork.com

Things I didn't accomplish...

1. Trying not to be so afraid to actually socialize with people. I've been wanting to find some folks to just go hang out with on a regular basis. The only problem with this is, you need to actually have time to do it! Between family, going to school part time, working full time, and running the business, I don't have much time on my hands.

2. I had wanted to lose 45 pounds this year. I only made it to 30. Which is still pretty good. But I could have lost 45 or more if I would have stayed on track for the full year instead of only picking it up at the tail end in the last 4 months.

3. Finishing the renovation of my website. i had wanted to totally rework it this year, and add some flash components to it. I have made some changes on it, but it is far from finished.

For next year....

1. The biggie is to keep losing weight, and not get lazy. To remember that losing the weight, and feeling healthy, and looking good is far more satisfactory then the few moments of good feeling I get from eating chocolate. Because in the end, after I've eaten it, I usually feel guilty about eating anyways. And I should have to feel that way when I eat.

2. I've started exercising. I want to keep that up, and increase the amount that I'm doing. Maybe I won't hit a plateau as a quickly as I did the last time I was starting to lose weight.

3. Get my business website going better and stronger, and more clients. I'm still wrestling with the idea of whether or not I'm going to start working part time at the library so that I can get my degree finished up. So this is kind of a part 2 for this one. I need to make some decisions.

How about you guys? Did you have any goals that you set for yourself to accomplish this year? Did you do it? What were they? What ones are you doing for this year?
